WBKV Wins Best News Operation In Wisconsin

WBKV Radio News has been voted the “Best News Operation in a Small Market” by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association in its Awards for Excellence competition.
WBKV news, led by news director Mark Morris and reporter Bob Dohr, won a total of 10 awards at the state competition on April 5th, taking four first place awards, three seconds and three third place awards, beating out all other small market radio stations in the state. Overall, the station won the title of “Best Small Market News Operation.”

WBKV won a third place award for a commercial it produced, too, giving the station a total of 11 awards at the state competition. Sister station WBWI 92.5 won one first place award and two second place awards in the competition. That means the stations grabbed a total of 14 awards in the annual radio competition among Wisconsin broadcasters.

Vice President and General Manager Jim Hodges applauded the news team and said “Mark and Bob have done an outstanding job of providing listeners with accurate and unbiased news coverage of local events and now their hard work has been recognized by their peers with the top award in the state. These guys are pros at what they do and now our community knows what other radio professionals know…Mark and Bob are the very best at covering, writing and reporting local news.”

WBKV news won first place for Spot News coverage, best Newscast, Hard News Investigative reporting, and Live On Scene reporting. It won second place awards for News Writing, Hard News Investigative reporting, Spot News and Feature reporting. It won third place awards for News Writing and Sportscast reporting.

The awards were held at the Monona Terrace in Madison and the event was emceed by Green Bay Packer Hall of Famer Willie Davis. An estimated 250 people attended the event.
